Arthur Fils, the bad patch
The collaboration between Arthur Fils and Sébastien Grosjean, his coach since the end of last season, is not starting as well as hoped. The Frenchman, 36th in the world at 19 years old, fell in the first round, on Tuesday, on the clay of Buenos Aires. A defeat against Dusan Lajovic (6/3, 6/4) which seems to confirm a bad dynamic.
The season did not start too badly for Fils with a quarter in Hong Kong, defeated by Rublev (6/4, 1/6, 6/2), then a semi in Auckland. A semi, but a first disappointment already with a defeat (6/2, 7/5) against Alejandro Tabilo, then 82nd in the world. One could then think that the Frenchman had preserved himself a few days from the Australian Open.
But the rest did not confirm this hypothesis, with a defeat in the second round in Melbourne against Tallon Griekspoor (3/6, 6/1, 7/5, 6/4), especially disappointing in attitude. It will therefore be a matter of starting a good dynamic in Rio as early as next week.
