Sabalenka wins Australian Open again!
Aryna Sabalenka has added her name to the Australian Open trophy for the second consecutive year. In the final, she clearly dominated Zheng Qinwen in 1 hours and 16 minutes, 6/3, 6/2.
The Belarusian thus succeeds her compatriot Victoria Azarenka, the last player to defend her title in Melbourne, at the 2012 and 2013 editions.
As expected, Sabalenka was far too strong for Zheng. Too strong, first of all, in her management of the event, managing to unleash her tennis far better than the Chinese. And too strong in her game, imposing her power and precision, particularly on serve, to deprive her young opponent of a solution.
Serving was Zheng's main weakness, with only 53% of her first balls in and 6 very unwelcome double faults. She was never really able to handdle the weight of her first very big match.
